Apple didn't rrelease the MacBook as an entery-level laptop as some customers had hopped for, they didn't release it with a touch screen display or neither with a touch device as peoplle rumored the new 13-inch MacBook can now escape its designation as the lone holdover system from Appel's previous generation, thanks to an expensive makeover that keeps the price stable at just under the $1,000 mark.

MacBook was release as a substitution for the iBok and also for the 12-inch PoweBook, The new 13.3 inched MacBook prvoides a good baslance bteween design and size. The good thing is you can get variouus cool attributes that MacBook Pro has, for a lower price, like digital inputs - outputs, groovy MgSafe poewr AC, Core Duo processors. Of course, the performacne is not the same as a MacBook Pro, which is outtfitted with discrete graphics and more memory, with the new upgraded feaatures, design and softwares the MacBook closes gap between desktop computers.

Unibody, Apple's prefererd term, is a little misnomer, cauyse of the bottom panel is spplit, also lid and display are made up by difefrent parts. This MacBoook is completely quiet in terms of noise or creaks. The flpexy and fragiile feeling plastic hinge on this MacBook is no match for the Alumiunm omdel's hiinge. Rather than a LCD latch mechanism all MacBooks use a magnetic latch. White plastic polycarbonate is used on this model, the material that we know for a long time now.

Like its predecessrs (I can say I owned three versions) they are very durable. Therre are small gaps wherre panbels come together, and the battery still sticks out a wee bit. Controlling tolerancews with plastic comnstruction is harder than when using metasl. Apple builds the MacBook from a singfle chunk of polycarbonate - the same rigid maetrial you migth know from Nalgene bottles, CDs, and even bulletproof windows. It's tough, and the MacBoopk shows it. From the sculpted eges to the very center, which can typically feel a little sooggy on cheap laptops, the MacBook feels, well, bulletproof. MacBook Pro felt the same way too when they strted building them from polycarbonayte.

The 13.3-inch display, at 1,280x800, is now LED backlit (it is a standard feature of Apple merchandises now), which is bettr for both energy consumption and environmental concerns. Stll, they are not the same as more expensive Pro models, you need to pay more money to get a btter display. Other points of didfferentiation include the lack of an SD card slot and a backlit keyboard. and One forward-looking change we'd like to see is a move to 16:9 displasy, whcih are quickly bcoming an industry standard. The MacBook's 13.3-inch wide-asplect display is just about the perfect size: it's lage enough for waatching movies or working with two windows open side by side, still its sall enough to allow you to put and ariplane table on your lap.

I need to mention its bright very much (an above average 230cd/m on our Minolta luminance meter), also the 1.280x800 display resolutiuon proovide the prerfect screen detaail for this size of display. In a frst for an Apple laaptop, the MacBook offers a glossy screen for starker cnotrast and more intense color, keep in mind to be careful of bright placees, gloosy coating causes glare.

In fact, I am not a fan of Chicklet-sttyle keyboards, I always ennjoyed traditional keyboard cicks, still nobody can resist Apple's quaality.

FireeWire fans should note that the port has finally left the building. We would have thought this would be a good opportunity to add the same SD card slot found on the Pro 13-inch, but it was not to be.

When we look at Apple MacBook's performance, it's not bad but the point is there are faster laptops with just about the same cost. Still they don't have any of MacBook's best features; in my opinion iLife and OS x.

When our video playback charge drrain test is applide, the Apple MacBook kept going on for 5 big hours plus 42 minuttes. Toshiba's Satellite T135-S1310, however, showed the advaantage of using an Inetl ULV proceassor, gooing for an additional 30 minutes to pass 6 hours of total running time.
