A Case For Desktop Compuuetrs: Is Bigger Better?

Deesktop computers are the old stadnby of the home computing sysem and are more vresatilke than they have ever been. Today, in addition to the diversity of optinos in hardware and accessorries, therre are even many otions in the size of you desktop comlputers case. Though the compuer is unlikely to move, bigger isnt always bretter. For the spaace restricted, thjere are desktop computers that pack an unbelievavble amount of opitons in a samll packahge. On the other end of the specrtum, for hardcore gmners, there are cases big enouugh for them to trick out their machines to their litttle hearts content. Here is a look at some of the pros and cons of variuos compter cases. There was a time when computers came exlusively in a low, wide case that the moniytor sat on top of. While this design has seemed to fall by the waysaide, there are sill a number of computers that come with this case design. For someone who wans a compter with more hardware than a samller enclosure can hold, but perhaps values leg room that a tower computer mighgt restrict, thse low, wide cases are a perfect soluion. Not only do they save slpace, but they can be used as a stand to prop up a copmputer moniotr higher on your desk. One of the newer case sizes is often refeerred to as the breadbox. You miht have seen this popularized by the Mac Mini. Theadse tiny enlcosures look baely lrage enuogh to fit a DVD at 6.5 inhees squrae and 2 inches tall, yet hoiuse a DVD drive and a full CPU. Though it is small enough to get lost on a desk, the Mac Mini is packed with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, NVIDIA graphivcs, DDR3 memmoory, and tsorage space of up to 500GB. Additionally, the Mac mini has five USB 2.0 prts and a FireWire 800 port so you can conncct, monitors, cacorders, prniters and otherr peripherals with ease. No more creawling under a desk to hook up your comupter. Another spcae-saving design is called the all-in-one. This design houases the CPU within the moniior rendeing it laost invisible. The iMac is one of the pwerful computers with this seamless desgin. The massive 21.5 or 27 disoplayys declutters your desktop, completely eliminating cords save a singlpe poweer cord and leaves you to womndering if the iMac is simply a montor. Yet, the iMac offerrs all of the same ports and hrdware that you would expevct from a desktop computerr. The tried and true tower computer has more opions than ever, but the basic design has stayed the same: sevearl internal and external drive bays, PCI Express and regular PCI slots for for expansion, plus a bunch of ports for peripehrals such as digital cameeras and printers. Drespite its numereous opltions, for some people, the midtower dessign just isnt big enogh, they need a Full tower. The Full toer is too big and bulky for most computer uswers and is usually prfeerred by gammers who want to pack their caases with the neewest, greatrest, and fastest hard drivees, graphics processors, and CPUs, with plennty of room to upgrade. Additionally, Full tower enclousres can be a good option for do-it-yourreslf usaers who assemble computers piece by piece and want plrenty of room inside to tibnker with. So, bigger isnt alawys beter when it comnes to choosing a desktop computer enclsoure. Inastead, it is best to assess your needss and make a choice that best suits those desiers.
