Advice Designed for Increasing Your Traffic

By: Keith R Lunt

Maximising your traffic is about getting many people onto your website and getting them to look at as many pages as budding, whether they are looking at them in that visit or returning tomorrow, next week or whenever you like to browse for updates and new services. You want them to think of your web site as one of their favoured shops where they regularly shop at, or favourite blogs where they read all new posts from.

Tip 1 - Sign Up To Google Adsense - It can be expensive, so take this one with care, but produce some pay per click (PPC) adverts and you should see your traffic levels increasing straight away.

Tip 2 - Write Some Articles - Write and publish, then write some more! Each one can have a small search engine optimisation benefit, but also people reading the article may then wander over to your web site after seeing what you have to say. Combined with a reason to visit the web site, this can produce a lot of cheap visitors, although you are paying for someone to write the articles!

TIp 3 - Get Involved In Other Web-sites - Look through blogs on other web-sites, leave sensible, helpful comments and a few people reading these comments should in the long run wander over to your own website. This only works when the people reading your comments get pleasure from them and see that they add to the content on that blog.

Tip 4 - Remember To Promote Your Web site - Far too regularly I have to remind customers to include website address in local press adverts. Also, put it on receipts, over the door of your shop and anywhere that your customers might see it. If they don't know that it exists, how can they call in on it and tell their friends to visit?

Tip 5 - Offer A Referral Bonus - Only really for the shop or at least a product on offer, but give present customers a reward for referring a friend. Easy to do and should generate lots of new business!

Tip 6 - Special Offers - This does not just apply to shops! Blogs can do it to. For example, offer a free ebook or discount code for signing up to the ezine. This encourages them to give you their email address, so that you can then lure them back to your site. Give the offer of ebook, then offer a new offer the next month or an additional ebook the next week so that they pay attention to your weekly newsletter and look forward to it. They will keep reading and visiting your web site for more information!

Tip 7 - Give Your Reader More To Read - If they don't like the product they are looking at, or have got to the bottom of your fascinating article, don't just let them leave the web site! Make sure that at this part of the page there are different products or additional related articles for them to read. Don't lose your reader just because they have reached the end of what they were looking at!

Tip 8 - Don't Bother Them With Too Much - Loads of flash animations, movement on the screen and too a lot of add positions are all recipes for upsetting your traffic and scaring them away. Don't do them!

They are my favourite tips for maximising your traffic - get more people onto your website and keep them on!
