Today you will more or less find programmable HVAC thermostats installed. These thermostats are equipped with all the new technology that these days can offer. They are either using a relay or a semiconductor gadget to turn the AC System on and off.

And there are also programmable thermostats surrounding that you can manage over the cellular phone line via the House Automation / House Control System (either cell phone or World-wide-web). The Integration into a wholly automated House Control System is a further move into house comfort systems. This area is currently on the rise and in an early phase. There is a lot to come and there are enormous expectations, too.
