Easy School Fundraising Tips

By: Leslie Gottlieb

Raising funds for a school doesn't need to be arduous or trying.
If you've been asked to join the fundraising committee for your local school, it already shows how committed they are to raising additional funds, so is a positive sign!
There are three keys to success in any fundraising venture:-
1. Good Team - don't expect just one person to take this on. Put together a team and delegate jobs wherever possible. This ensures that everyone has an opportunity to contribute and no-one gets exhausted.
2. Organisation - just because this is voluntary, it shouldn't be disorganised. Take notes at each meeting and circulate it to all members of the team. Arrange the date of the next meeting. Make sure you know what each person is expected to do and when it should be done by. This can take much of the stress out of working together.
3. Diversifying - don't have all your money coming in from one basket. A summer school fair may be a good fundraiser event, but add in an end of term disco and Christmas raffle, and you can really raise some serious money.
Do set targets and celebrate when you achieve them - involve the school children in keeping track, as this involves them in a meaningful way.
Finally, best of luck!
