Have You Seen Silly Bands Yet?

The first time I saw them was a couple weeks back while picking up my kids from school. My son told me that a friend had given him a rubber band. He was extremely proud of it and stuck out his wrist to show me. A kid gave my son a rubber band. It didn't register so I did not pay much attention to it. Then a couple days later his Mommy came home with a pack. I thought he must have talked Mommy into stopping by the store to buy some. Typical. The next day he comes out of his room with every one of them on his arm. I thought he was very cute. My son is aware of his appearance. I remembered how I felt as a kid wearing new things to school. This was the first time I realized he was trying to fit in at school. It was at that moment I knew the significance of the silly bands to my son.

Well when I picked him up from school that day he got in the truck and started telling me all about the trades he had made. These things were turning into elementary school cash. Not just boys either. The girls were in on this too.

Obviously silly bands are going to be big and spread like a wild fire. I don't know at what time children initially started collecting them. I might be late to this party, but I wanted to write about the next hit toy for every one of those who are not yet on the "bands wagon". Who knows perhaps your kid will be the first at their school to wear them.
