How You Can Be a Support to Missionaries in Mexico

If you are like so many Americans that look around the world and see so much poverty and people in need and wish that you could make a difference, you are not alone. From the devastating earthquake that has affected so many lives in Haiti to the poor people of Mexico risking their lives every day to cross the boarder in hopes for a better life, there are so many ways for us all to help. Although it would be wonderful if we could all take time off work in hopes to make a difference, it is not realistic for most of us. If you want to make a difference but can't take time to volunteer there are others ways for you to help, like home missionaries in Mexico.

What is a Home Missionary?

A Home missionary is someone that is supporting other missionaries that are in the field. You can give support to the missionaries in the field by donating funds, by praying for them and the people they are helping, or both. A home missionary is the perfect way for people that can't afford to go away but still want to help others. Anyone that is at home but still helping missionaries in their mission around the world is a home missionary.

Why Mexico?

They say God has big plans for Mexico and with your help that can become a reality. Although there are parts of Mexico that are flourishing today it is a huge country (covering over 2 million square kilometers) with many problems and a large percentage of people living below the poverty line. Mexico does not have an official religion but it is over 75% Catholic which makes it a perfect place for missionaries to go and help the locals improve their living conditions. Imagine living with no running water in your house, no school to send your children to and no church where you can pray. This is a harsh reality for thousands of people in Mexico but by supporting missionaries, they can help show Jesus to the people and reveal to them just how powerful He is.

The Mission

The main mission for missionaries in Mexico is to spread the Gospel, to teach and explain all of the teaching of Jesus. However, this is not all that missionaries are doing for the local people there; missionaries support churches in Mexico and also mission fields in Mexico. By improving life and empowering people through their love of Jesus change can come about.

Nothing can be done in the field with out the support of home missionaries. The home missionary is the one that helps to support the missionaries working out in the field by both prayer and financial support. Don't just sit there and say you want to make a difference or wish that there were something you could do because there is. By supporting missionaries in Mexico you can spread the word of GOD and make the world a better place. Proverbs 29:18 reads "Where there is no vision the people perish."
