How to Learn Guitar - A Beginners Guide

By: Melinda Curle

The guitar is a fun instrument to play. It is popular and used in many bands and genres of music. Many people embark on the journey to learn the guitar, but all too often they give it up. Many people tend to lose motivation when playing the guitar becomes too difficult or challenging.

If you are determining how to learn to play guitar, you should consider what learning style that you have. Some people need the structure of a traditional lesson with a practicing schedule given to them weekly. There are individuals who need constant corrective feedback and praise. For these individuals, I would definitely recommend traditional guitar lessons.

However, if you are a busy individual with a lot going on, or someone who does not want to be tied down to weekly lessons, you may do better with some downloadable lessons or an instruction manual. Online lessons are the way to go if you are self-conscious about playing and don't want to hear any criticism. How to learn to play the guitar just depends on the person. There is no right way to learn, but there is a right way for each individual.

Choosing the best guitar instruction is all about knowing how you learn best and what will motivate you to practice. You may also want to take into consideration your musical goals. One family member of mine loves to teach and another composes music. I am content to learn someone else's music and play it for myself.
