How to Pick a Lock

Losing your home keys is one of the most unfortunate things that can happen to you. In case of such a situation, learning how to pick a lock would prove to be a useful skill.

Tip #1: Most locks that you can find around your home or office is of the simple pin-and-tumbler concept. Such locks are very easy to open, given that you have the right knowledge on how to pick a lock and you have the right tools to do so.

Tip #2: A tension wrench is a useful tool that you can work on this how to pick a lock project. A pin or pick may also prove helpful. Most tools that you can use to pick a simple lock can be found around your home, if not, they can be made out of regular household items.

Tip #3: You must learn how the lock works to be able to do it in. The components of a simple lock are some pins and a cylinder. The pins keep the cylinder in place so it does not turn when locked. Picking a lock means that you need to put away the pins from the cylinder.

Tip #4: It would be easier for you to pick a lock if you know to which way it turns to be unlocked. In case you don’t, you will have to study which way the lock turns to be unlocked. Try doing it in by turning clockwise and counterclockwise if the former did not work.

Tip #5: Place a wrench on the keyhole, at the lower portion, then, a pick at the upper portion. Feel the pins with the pick and try to push them one by one. When you feel that all the pins are pushed upward, slowly turn the wrench on the direction the thing unlocks.

Learning how to pick a lock is a helpful skill that comes in handy during accidents. When you lose the key to your house or to any of your possessions that has a padlock on it, you need not to ask someone for help because picking a lock is a doable task that you, for sure, can handle.
