Like To Launch Your Writing Freelance Career? It Will Be Simpler With This Advice

By: Mark Drest

You have been dreaming of a writing freelance career for many years, and now it is about to begin. If you are a beginner, however, there are several aspects of this job of which you should be fore-warned. A writing freelance career may be an amazing life, but it can also be very aggravating. Here are some words of advice you don't want to forget.

1. Not all writing job boards are set up by decent and honest people. Sorry to say, but as in most other organizations, there are scammers out there. Be very careful when accepting or bidding on a job assignment with a new company or client. Don't fall for a glitzy website, but do your homework.. Look around freelancers' forums and check out if there are issues with payments or response times from that particular client. Your freelance writing career can not afford to have a website simply "vanishing" once your work have been uploaded.

2. Making a bid on "blind ads" is a big risk. Be inquisitive. Ask for information about the company posting it, including contact information (that you can then verify).

3. Don't ever believe that a writing freelance career means you are stuck to writing only articles or novels. Certainly, these are popular avenues for your writing freelance career, but you can earn money writing with so many other methods! Poetry, blogging, food writing, story writing,... and others!

4. Don't believe that winning any job bid will help your writing freelance career. Amateurs have a tendency to think this. The truth, however, is that you can do a lot of damage to your "name" if you publish less than top quality work because of your lack of familiarity about the actual matter. Bad reviews will stay around a long time! Especially at the beginning of your writing freelance career, stick to topics that you know well, and only submit first-rate pieces.

Like anything worth working for, it help if you are intentional in the actions you take to develop your writing freelance career. Follow the advice above, and get writing! Your wonderful and potentially lucrative job awaits! If you know how to find (and few do) those highly paid writing assignments, you'll do more than just ok. Unfortunately, much of what "amateurs" come across when browsing for writing jobs online is so low-paying that it often doesn't seem worth the effort. Do not give up. Just get SMART!
