Looking For A Fantastic Toy? What About A Robotic Dinosaur

By: Anthony Riali

You may or may not have already seen one of the new hot toys for 2009, robotic dinosaurs. Every year it seems there is a must have toy, and this year this is it. If you would like one of these, don't try getting it right before the Holidays, because they will likely be gone by then.

There are lots of different kinds of robotic dinosaurs. Some are simple toys that can only build sounds and move a little. Other more high-priced models can interact with you and your kids. At the top of the scale though these toys cost a bundle.
The more expensive toys have lots of different features. They can saunter without running into walls. They can sense it when you feel them. For example, if you try thumping the dinosaur on the head it might roar at you. Repetitive attempts eventually cause the dinosaur to attack.

One of the most prevalent dinosaurs is named D-Rex. He looks pretty frightening with vicious teeth and a spiked collar. Despite his appearance the robot is really enormously pleasant. It has different modes you can put it in. If you put it in guard mode it will roar at anyone who passes. D-Rex comes with a remote control, so you can program him from a safe distance.

This robot is even programmable. It's easy enough for kids to manage. All you have to do is give the robot a series of commands, and then he will carry them out. D-Rex has several modes he can be set in. In prank mode he will entertain your kids with funny sounds. In seek mode he comes when you whistle. He also comes equipped with power saving sleep mode, and attack mode.

Growing up, many elementary school age kids fall in love with dinosaurs. This is something that parents should try to encourage. It may help your children with a lifelong love of learning. Getting a robotic dinosaur could even encourage your child to one day become a paleontologist. Then your child might even explore their own dinosaurs.

You may need to watch your wallet for this gift though. Various smaller versions of this toy might cost as low as fifteen to twenty dollars. These models do not have the features mentioned above. The D-Rex, which is probably the most popular one, can cost as much as two hundred dollars. But for some people it's worth it, to see the joy on their children's faces when they open this present on Christmas morning.
