Making a Choice: Noninvasive Therapy or Surgery?

By: Martin Trouba

As people age, they start to complain more of pains in their muscle groups and joints. They appear to stiffen up with age, and such everyday activities as bending over for the morning paper can make them flinch.

Such pain can grip so severely that they are sure it begins deep-seated in their bones. But the real cause of rigidity and discomfort lies not in the joints or bones, relating to study at the Johns Hopkins Medical School, but in the muscles and connective tissues that move the joints.

The trouble of inflexible joints and muscles is comparable to the problems of opening and closing a gate because of a rarely used and rusty hinge that has become balky.

Therefore, if people do not regularly move their muscle groups and joints through their full ranges of movement, they lose particular of their potential. That is why when these people will try to move a joint after a long time of inactivity, they feel pain, and that discourages additional use

Let’s say you have osteoarthritis - probably the most common disorder of locomotors system. It is often treated with a surgical procedure to clean out debris in the joint, using a tiny scope inserted directly into the knee. But more and more researches point out fact that the surgery works, but no better than other treatments. Dr. Kalousek is a rheumatologist from Spa-resorts.cz says - surgery doesn't stop the arthritic process.

Interestingly American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) persuades patients to think about physical therapy as an effective non-surgical option for osteoarthritis treatment.

Doctor Kalousek confidences that beside therapeutic spa treatments everyone can protect joints from osteoarthritis or for sure slow its progression simply by following suggestions:

-Lose weight. Remember that every kilogram lost reduces the load exerted on the knee for each step by four pound. So become a healthy eater!

Being a healthy eater needs you to turn out to be both educated and smart about what healthy eating actually is. Being foodstuff clever isn't about knowledge to calculate grams or fat, or is it about studying labels and counting calories.

Healthy eating is entirely about balanced and moderate consumption, consisting of healthy meals no less than three times per day. Healthy eaters eat a lot of various kinds of meals, not restraining themselves to one specific food kind or food group.

-Be active. Training strengthens the muscles around joints, which can prevent cartilage from wearing down.

-Stay straight. Good posture protects the neck, back, hip and knee joints.

-Don't stay immobile when sitting. Changing positions can reduce joint and muscle stiffness.

-Lift carefully. Use your strongest & biggest joints and muscles when lifting or carrying to avoid straining smaller joints.

-Break it up. Rest between periods of heavy activity to prevent repetitive stress on joints that can accelerate wear and tear.

In other words non-surgical therapy is a good alternative of surgical operation in many cases!
