Manufacturing Plants Now Working with Digital Signs As Well As Factory Computer System Protection.

By: Max Gallagher

Up to that time in production plants we have looked at the old notice board when you go into the waiting area and even on the production floor, these have been used to fill in workers and visitors alike about the factory.

Now it seems that this device is creating a buzz and the notice board is being replaced by dynamic signage, many businesses who have a production facility are choosing to eliminate the old notice board and put up Plasma monitors, these are then wired on the same computer infrastructure that the desktops run off. The electronic media is added by the IT department and it can rapidly be changed, for example if a touring celebrity sends someone because they are ill, within 25 seconds the greeting on the reception sign is amended to the new name and it displays the firm is on the ball.
This is okay in public areas, still when a customer visits and you want to show them round your factory, this is an idyllic break in imposing your service brand without delay on your invitee, as soon as they catch sight of the massive displays in the manufacturing areas they will definitely be amazed, it also indicates that the business invests in new equipment and is ahead of the field.

But there is one challenge even commercial TVs are not intended to be utilized in areas were destructive air borne contaminants are, most producers have some type of acidic component in the air, from acids to dust particles if these get into the rear of the monitor it is only a matter of time until the display dies.

The solution - is to place the monitor in a ruggedized LCD cabinet, these promises IP65 protection, so they can even be washed down with high pressure water jets, just right for any food manufacturing company. Each housing has it's own cooling and heating system depending on the application, creating a micro climate inside the LCD case. The Flat screen housing are rolled out with a sophisticated cooling system that also incorporates a filtration component, that filters all tiny air borne particles out, so the air entering the unit is fresh, cool air.

Then the monitor contained by the protective box can be deployed to gantries or ceiling mounted using a heavy duty fasteners.
Installing digital advertising in a facility is no longer out of the ordinary, but also goes well in the field of facility pc systems, this is when ordinary computer systems are deployed on a manufacturing plant floor to assemble precious information about the present orders being created.

But what is needed for protecting factory pc systems? Well almost all the system will demand safeguarding from dust and fluid and the normal dangers that would make any computer useless. The system requiring defending extend from the large HP networked printers to the workstation, monitor and even the keyboard.
Based on the goods made in the facility will depend upon the protection needed, if the area is washdown the solution will have to be a water-resistant solution to IP65 or a dust proof solution to IP54. Then there is the computer enclosure to consider, do you want to have everything in one protective case? If so, the all-in-one unit is perfect, this will protect the printer, PC, keyboard and display in one unit.

Now an LCD cabinet is as common place on a facility floor as is a Computer enclosure, due to the peril element of deploying electronics in a hostile setting.
