Mercury Elite - The 2 TB drive

Mercury Elite-AL Pro Dual RAID HDD is a 2 TB hard-drive from OWC, it's as simple as that. After releasing a 1 TB external hard-drive in 2005 the guys from OWC now present us the Mercury Elite-AL Pro Dual. It practically packs two Hitachi's 7K1000 drives, the two are set in RAID 0 in order to ensure performant demands of video and audio production. Also the unit provides a transfer speed of up to 80 mb/s via USB 2.0 or FireWire 400/800 allowing high transfer rates for demanding software applications.

But quality comes at a price and the Mercury Elite is anything but cheap, you might have to pay over one thousand dollars for this amount of storage. Then again this was never a problem for companies that actually need this kind of storage space.
