By: Noah Davis

Here are a few cogent packing recommendations from Remington Moving and Storage. When you commence packing for your next move, bear in mind, an essential part of excellent packing is knowing what not to pack. Remington Moving & Storage, makes the following recommendations concerning items you should not pack during your next move.

You are recommended not to pack oil and fuel. Not only are they flammable, they also easily spill out of equipment and containers and ruin expensive goods being moved along side them. Should you be planning to move a fuel containing machine such as a gas powered lawn mower be sure to cautiously empty the tank. Also do not pack partially used cans of paint thinner, oil or other substances that could leak. Throw them away instead. Propane tanks can be transported long distance, but only if they are professionally emptied and cleaned. They are forbidden by law to be moved in local moves. Though you are able to transport satellite dishes, think carefully before you do. Dismantling and transporting the dish might cost a lot more than buying a new one.

Flammable substances are also no-nos when it comes time to making the next move. It is advisable to throw away combustible, corrosive or explosive items including the following goods acid, gasoline poisons, charcoal, lighter fluid, fertilizer, paints, car batteries, matches, nail polish and remover, ammunition, fluid bleach, stern, aerosols, kerosene, pool chemicals, chemistry sets, fireworks, pesticides, motor oil, paint thinner, batteries, loaded weapons, weed killer, ammonia, lamp oil, propane tanks, plus cleaning fluid.

Yet an additional group of items that must absolutely be excluded from your packing are the imperishables. Just imagine rotting fluid being absorbed into your expensive tapestry and you will understand why it should be excluded. A good means for prepare your fridge for your move is to wash it out and let it dry and ventilate, for at least 24 hrs prior to packing time. Keep in mind that a bit of worthless mold or fluid from a unpreserved item might possibly ruin a valuable family item that is packed close to it.

Before packing valuables, make clear what your mover's coverage will or will not cover. As a rule moving firms will not insure tiny valuables such as coins, earrings gold, stocks, stamp collections, etc. Hence you will have to make provate preparations to have these objects moved.

Some small items such as firearms can be transported interstate But, you must state to your mover that you have such possessions, ahead of time.
