Review:National Treasure Movie

By: johnny qualsoon

If your head is still spinning from the many murky codes getting deciphered in The Da Vinci Code, you actually can easily settle-back and relax with all the clues Nicholas Cage has to uncover to be able to carry on his treasure hunt in the National Treasure movie. He has a lot of help from his dad, a really savvy female assistant, his mentor, and his goofy yet handsome side-kick. The actual heist scenes including a taken Declaration of Independence are a highlight of the movie, all filmed on actual locales around Washington, D.C. and also Philadelphia, very well photographed.

Cage gets numerous firm opposition from Harvey Keitel as the no nonsense FBI man, plus some villainous rivalry coming from greedy Sean Bean and his henchmen, who desire the treasure for financial purposes solely and will cease at nothing, possibly even murder, to get their greedy hands on it.

The National Treasure movie is almost all Saturday matinee material, the plot purely a mixture of Indiana Jones and other cliffhanger stories in which the hero has to pursue his vision while a lot of hurdles are thrust in his way and then the final, climactic shoot out and crazy chase before he can stroll off with the girl by the end of the film.

All the common clich?s are securely in place, but it is still a lot of fun to see Nicholas Cage interact with a fun loving cast. Sean Bean lends some British dignity to his role as being the enchanting villain, not nearly as dark a bad guy as is usual in these types of capers.

There is a light touch throughout all the heist parts and chases and explorations of the subterranean caverns containing the prize, in addition to some effectively staged instances of suspense with breaking stairways and pest ridden wooden structures making the quest risky. Justin Bartha adds a lot of the lighter weight jibes as a computer system wiz who is obviously having a great time and knows the whole thing is a lark while he works on his computer visuals.

Absolutely nothing way too authentic here, but National Treasure movie is entertaining to see.
