The Golden Boy with a Golden Voice

By: Roberto Garabell

Who could have thought that classical music and pop culture are hard to combine? Maybe, maybe not. During the 2008 Emmy Awards, Josh Groban's lively rendition of theme songs from the hit TV shows we grew up watching proved otherwise. His version of themes from The Simpsons, Friends, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air among others, was as poignantly funny as it was equally amusing.

As a musical genius, Josh has started out his tremendously successful career at the age 17 performing as a stand-in for legendary Andrea Bocelli and rehearsing with pop diva Celine Dion. Soon after, he gained a huge following from audiences young and old alike with hits like You Raise Me Up and Broken Vow. Having sold multi-platinum albums, his iconic status has been certified furthermore when big names such as Ronan Keating, The Corrs, and Sting performed with him in major concerts and charity galas. He has also been seen guesting for Oprah Winfrey, Ellen Degeneres, and Jay Leno in their talk shows, and also appeared as a guest star on Ally McBeal.

With his record-breaking album sales, tv guestings and jam-packed concerts, one might ask what else is in store for Josh Groban? A movie? A charity named after him? We could only keep guessing. As for me, I would just keep watching out for more of his new hits and who knows, I could even score front-row tickets in his next solo concert could I be lucky enough.
