Too hot inside your home?

By: Ian Lucas

Are you struggling with excessive heat that makes it unbearable to sit inside the house? If you have large windows, you might be facing a problem. Glass, while good at keeping out wind and dust, is not so effective when it comes to keeping out the heat. But relax! There’s a solution for this problem as well. All you need is some tinted film that you can paste on your windows.

Go the DIY way

Getting tinted window film on your windows is not at all difficult. In fact, if you intend to save a little bit of money, I would recommend going the DIY way. Most hardware stores stock large rolls of tinted film and all you need to do is buy it, cut it up to the right size and paste it on your windows. Since tinted film usually comes with one sided adhesive, even this last bit is not difficult.

Some initial preparation

Before you go ahead and paste the tinted film you would do well to procure a large ruler, a fine cutter blade and create some work area to spread out the film. Also, ensure that your windows are cleaned well before you cut up the film. Otherwise you’ll waste valuable time and the dirt might get stuck on your windows for life!

Cool Interiors

After you’ve measured and cut up the film, you come to probably the trickiest part of the operation – pasting it! Remember to start right from the top and smooth down the film as you paste it so that there are no air pockets. This will ensure that the tinting is even and thus more effective.
