There are 2 main causes of acne, the most common type occurs during your teenage years when your body is going through a number of major physical changes, this results in a high hormone release into your system and almost always brings about a sudden bad case of pimples. The second cause of zits is through other external factors such as dirt, greasy foods and reactions to chemicals in household cleaning products; there is a myth that adults cannot have an acne outbreak, this is absolutely not true. Though don’t let this worry you, there is an acne cure for both types of this condition in fact teenagers need only wait a while for their bodies to fully change before the zits finally disappear.

So how do I get rid of acne once I have it? Luckily doctors have been dealing with bad cases of pimples for a while now and there is an endless line of different acne cures at your finger tips. A visit to your local shopping center or chemist will bring you face to face with a number of affordable over the counter solutions; these mainly come as creams and wipes which can be directly applied to the affected areas. Before spending you hard earned cash on medications that may or may not help your problem it is best to first get to the root of what’s causing your acne, this way you can pick exactly the right form of treatment and get rid of those unsightly white spots quicker.

Possible causes of acne: Hormonal imbalance, Side affect of a prescription medication, Bad diet, Reaction to cleaning products, Stress, Over washing, Too much makeup.

Possible acne treatments:

The type of acne cure that you choose should mainly depend on what is causing it, for example if it is just a side affect of a new soap that you’ve bought from your local store, simply change soaps. On the other hand if you have a serious case of acne that has not been treatable using the regular topical creams then it might be hormone related, in this case you may need to visit you doctor for a hormone treatment and a course of vitamin A supplements. To give you a better idea of the different acne cure options available to you here are some of the most commonly used remedies:

(1) Benzyl Peroxide – You will definitely have used this in the past, Benzyl Peroxide can be found as a topical cream in most chemists and supermarkets, it is commonly mixed with other ingredients, such as vitamin A, E or K, to help with the swelling. Once applied directly to the affected areas it dries out the skin absorbing all the oil and moisture, this helps to protect from further pimple outbreaks. Remember to use it sparingly, as over application can cause dry itchy patches that may turn red and swell up.

(2) Salicylic Products – This particular topical cream ingredient is sometimes mixed in with benzyl peroxide, but can be found as a single ingredient, you can find it in almost all chemists around the world. It acts by entering your skin and seeping into the follicles where it loosens the clogged up pores causing the pimples to shrink and disappear; as with the previous acne cure this treatment is good for mild cases and can be used as a prevention method. These topical creams can be applied directly to your skin, but remember don’t wash the area with soap before applying, as this will over dry the skin; also if you wear makeup it’s better to remove this with a damp tissue and then apply the creams.

(3) Natural homemade remedies – If you’re not keen on using chemicals then you might want to try a home remedy acne cure for less severe pimple outbreaks. In fact there are hundreds of these, some work quite well, while others just make you feel like an idiot. Some of the more effective methods include, the carrot and honey cure, grate one carrot and add 2-3 table spoons of natural organic honey then mix it well; apply this once a day for 3 weeks. The carrots contain vitamin A which reduces sebum production and the honey has a naturally occurring anti bacterial chemical. Another popular home remedy uses plain organic oat meal, mix this up as usual with warm water and apply to the affected area, the oatmeal will absorb moisture as it dries and extract the oil and dirt from your pores.
