Two Original Books Of A Factual Crime

By: D C Graham

Smoke and Murders was Douglas Chandler Graham's first novel. It was about the murders of the Hodges family in Vinton, Virginia in the autumn of nineteen ninety-four. The family was murdered and the house set on fire.
The father and the two children were executed as they slept. The father in one bedroom had a single bullet wound to his head. The two children, ages three and eleven were in another bedroom and they had two bullet wounds each to their heads. The mother was found downstairs on the sofa and she had been garroted and then set ablaze. The fire did insignificant damage structurally to the house because the windows and doors were shut and the fire was starved for lack of air.
The police determined who the murderer was before any proof was gathered. This was the family friend, Earl Bramblett. The police didn't like his lifestyle, he didn't have regular employment, and they also suspected him of having to do with two teens missing years previously. This was payback for their lack of finding any proof in the missing girls case. With this one they decided to make up proof or lie for whatever proof was required, or intimidate others to lie, which they did.
So Smoke and Murders is the book about that crime and how it came about. The whole thing is fictitious but the murders and the truth that the suspect was framed by the police and convicted by lies and other alleged situations. However since the real investigation was lies and other despicable acts, to bring Bramblett to trial, it may well have took place the way Graham states. The internet site that has this bogus evidence has been on the Internet for the last ten years and no one in that case has come forth to dispute anything Graham has exposed.
Leaving that story with so many characters that were invented and their situations unexplained was the vehicle for the new book Three Trailers Down. It picks up where Smoke and Murders ended and continues to tell the life of people first met there. The lieutenant that ran the operation of the Vinyard police force find he has got to look for other employment and the story follows him and the people he meets along the way.
Both novels are filled with suspense and conflict and are fast moving in telling their stories. The critiques of both have been exceptional for a new novelist. The books are brought to print for adult audiences and some of the dialogue and situations may be upsetting to easily upset individuals. They are categorically not appropriate for children.
The books can be bought online at their respective websites. You can also read the evaluations and look at the book trailers on each books website. They give a great indication of what each book is about as well as entertaining.
