What Goes into Cleaning Services Costs?

By: Anthony Conover

Office cleaning services are part of business costs in a office. Clean and healthy environments are essential in the workplace just as they are in homes. Cleaning services facilitate a gleaming first impression to customers and help maintain that image in subsequent visits by customers.

The routine for cleaning determines the cost to the company. Often the requirements for a cleaning service will be nightly. Floors can be vacuumed, mopped and waxed often daily. An office with an exterior door gets more dirt blown in. The number and location of restrooms affect office cleaning costs as well. Lobbies must be straightened and shined and furniture dusted for fingerprints and smudges. All of this before sweeping or vacuuming the area. Vinyl and tile floors will need to be washed and shined, trash and shredders emptied. All are typical chores for cleaning services offices.

The type of office that is being cleaned affects the cost of office cleaning services. Medical and dental offices have more detailed cleaning and removal. Offices that serve document related services have more soft textile surfaces to maintain like carpets, drapes and upholstered seating. Cleaning services tailor contracts and quotes to the company function.

Prices for cleaning services will either be on a contract, with specific items that must be done or will have a list only performed as needed and then billed. Like anything else, the cost of cleaning services will be affected by the competition, as well as by customer expectations.
