What is a Donor Wall?

You can see donor walls in a variety of places including churches, universities, hospitals, schools and a myriad of other businesses and organizations. Sometimes you will see them in an entrance way or a special area. For those of you who may not even know what to look for, it?s those really big things you see on walls with people names on them. The people get their names on a donor wall by making a contribution to that organization, and in return their name is added to the wall.

Donor walls are custom made by hand and do take a lot of time and effort by the manufacturer. Each plate is engraved and placed on the wall in a unique design, plates can be added later as more people contribute to an organization. There are smaller versions of donor walls, like trees of life and mini-trees. A tree of life is the same idea as the donor wall, except it is much smaller and less expensive. Trees of life have ?leaves? that are screwed into a clear acrylic panel that sits over the trunk and branches. Larger contributors can have larger leaves so you can draw more attention to them and acknowledge your appreciation.

Just like with the donor walls, trees of life and mini-trees are handmade and can be customized to nearly any specifications you may have. Now that you know a little bit about donor walls and trees of life, look for them when you are out and about, take a look at some of the names?maybe you?ll recognize somebody you know!
